I’ve struggled to find a replacement for my old Nikon Coolpix. I scratched its lens sometime this spring and have purchased (and subsequently returned) two cameras since then. I asked for guidance on a camera purchase about a month ago and got a few comments and several emails offering suggestions.
As a quick refresher, I wanted a camera that:
- Point and Shoot Camera
- 10x Zoom (minimum)
- 12 Megapixels (minimum)
- Small enough to fit in jeans pockets
I ultimately decided to buy a Lumix DMC-ZS19.
This camera definitely fits the guidelines. It is a Point and Shoot with a 20x Zoom, with 14.1 Megapixels. I’ve had this camera for a couple weeks now and have been pretty pleased with it so far. There are a lot more functions on this camera than my previous Coolpix — I haven’t had much time play with all of the settings yet, I’m happy with the automatic settings for now.
