Sunday Dinner

Advertisements

I love Sunday dinner. I usually cook at my house and I usually tell you all about our meal. Regular readers may have noticed I was silent last week.  I decided to make Giada’s Orecchiette with Roasted Fennel and Sausage.  I’ve loved every recipe from Giada — until last Sunday.  This was seriously the worst recipe I have made in years.

It was dry, flavorless and a really big let down.  I always have a rule in my house: If I make something (new) that sucks, we’ll just order pizza and move on.  I’ve never had to do this before — and we almost pulled the trigger last week.

This recipe was so easy, so I’m pretty sure I just didn’t screw it up.  It was just bad.

This brings me to tonight.  I am cooking dinner again, not letting last weeks misstep dissuade me.  I am making a recipe from another great lady from the Food Network: Ina Garten.  I am making the Barefoot Contessa’s Chicken Chili. I’ve made this 2-3 times before.  It pairs great with a spicy cornbread (cloned from Bandera).

I usually make something brand new each Sunday and I guess one really bad meal out of 75-100+ (since I started this tradition) isn’t really all that bad, is it?

What are you fixing tonight?  Did you have a dog of a dinner last week and are trying to compensate this week?  Did you make that Orecchiette with Roasted Fennel and Sausage too?  Disappointing, eh?
